You’ll need somewhere to meet up, chill out and wind down on New Year’s Day, so where better to gather than the superb space that is Meeting House Square in Temple Bar for The Big Brunch.
Starting at 11am and going on until dark, it’s an upbeat, family-friendly way to start the New Year, with a special children’s creative area, as well as face painting, balloon modelling, puppet and magic shows.
Browse and brunch at the market stalls, enjoy an encore performance from Irish language act Seo Linn, then channel The Great Gatsby as vintage tea dancers take to the stage performing the Charleston, two-step and more. If you’re twinkle-toed yourself, turn up in your own smoking jacket or day dress and join in. There will be short, free dance classes throughout the afternoon so the non-initiated can learn a few steps!
And if that’s not your scene, never fear, because in the late afternoon, the tone will change to full-on trad with an afternoon céilí…. with a difference!
Because the Square has a retractable rain cover, you can be sure of a great day’s fun whatever the weather. Just don’t forget to tie your resolution to the special Resolution Tree, resolving, of course, to do it all again next year!
Time: 11 am – 6 pm. Please check back here for detailed programme of performances by end of November.
Tickets: No tickets are required for this event.
This is a free, family friendly event.
